The beginning
In early 1999, I was exploring my own issues of gender identity. I was also an out lesbian Christian, aware of many Christian groups and resources related to "LGBT" issues (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender).
So, naturally, I went in search of more information from these LGBT groups. I was appalled to find almost nothing available on the websites of these groups. And even after inquiring, found few additional resources. It seemed that the "T" was just window dressing.
I started TransFaith, hosted on a free web host to offer up the information I had been able to find.
The revival
Since 1999, some progress has been made to make transgender folks more visible in church and society. However, there is much work yet before us.
In early 2007, I realized that my old TransFaith website was the #1 Google search result for "transgender christian." This and some other nudges led me to redesign and relaunch TransFaith so that it can be a much better resource for folks who are looking for resources like I was.
What next?
I am interested in further expanding TransFaith. If you stay connected, you'll hear more about my specific ideas and interests. But in the meanwhile, I welcome your input!
