The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has released "Gender Identity and Our Faith Communities: A Congregational Guide for Transgender Advocacy (PDF)." This workshop curriculum is accompanied by articles and audio content, and is designed to be presented in 3-hours of class time. It includes both Jewish and Christian content.
The curriculum is divided into three parts:
In addition to the leader's guide, the 124 page PDF is packed with intersting content, including a series of dramatic readings, a readings related to the gifts transgender people bring, and twelve essays from the HRC contributors.
HRC has provided dramatic readings that can be used as part of the educational experience, either with participants reading the provided text or listening to the provided MP3. Each dramatic reading includes comments from several contributors, compiled around a particular theme.
In addition, one option in the curriculum encourages participants to explore through discussion the gifts that transgender people bring. The discussion is launched by listening to the quotes, either with participants reading the provided text or listening to the provided MP3.
Finally, the curriculum includes twelve essays by contributing authors.
